What is the TCPA?

March 12, 2025

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) is a U.S. law that restricts telemarketers, call centers, and other companies from using autodialer or robocalls to contact consumers without their consent.  Enforced by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), it requires businesses to obtain prior consent before contacting individuals and provides consumers with the right to opt-out – ultimately protecting consumers from unwanted calls. Violations can result in significant fines, making compliance essential for businesses engaging in outbound communications.
